Yoga Asana and Somatics

Asana is the Sanskrit word for “seat” and refers to the seated posture used for meditation. The term is now commonly used to refer to any of the physical Yoga postures and movements. This 75-minute class is a sequence of movements through poses to warm up, stretch and strengthen the body. It concludes with constructive rest to integrate the benefits of the class and calm the mind. We focus on proper alignment and mindful breathing. We use various props to create a safe and supported practice for all levels.

Pranayama - Yogic Breathing Practice

The breath is a great mover of life force energy and by learning to breathe more mindfully our life force begins to flow more efficiently enhancing all aspects of our health. Benefits include increased energy and stamina, and a more balanced nervous system. These techniques are practiced sitting comfortably and open to all levels.
